Everything has To Start Somewhere....

Everybody, of course, will end up asking the obvious question, "Does the world really need another social networking app?".
That remains to be seen. What we have here is a kind of filtering mechanism. The other social networks have their own flavours of inhabitants, but this filter is set a little differently, to catch up a somewhat more uncommon type of molecule/person.
If it enhances mating, both actual physical mating, and a more virtual kind, well, that's a powerful enough of a benefit, a "value added" that it just might grow for a while.
If it crashes and burns, well, so what, what doesn't? Think of it as a party. While the booze and grass are flowing, and the music is playing, enjoy it.
Is it way too straight, and way too foo foo? Hell yeah. But, whattya want? This is the population we have to work with. So lighten up. ;-}
I wanted to say Thanks to Jordan, who operates http://www.enlightenment.com/ , and is a good friend of many years, for sending me the link to zaadz, despite his knowing that it was inevitable that I would ask, does the world need a new 'spiritual types' networking app?

Help

Thanks for your interesting post Bill, your words so often wax poetic…
I wonder myself why the world needs another social networking app. I think that is a valid and important question.
Personally I think that the world can use more community, and online community is one route to filling that need, however, I am still trying to figure out what makes an online community truly valuable enough to promote positive change, and not just advertise for it.
I’ve got a few ideas, perhaps they will come out in dialog here or elsewhere.

Your point, Bill, about this filter perhaps catching (the attention) of a different kind of person is a good one. But obviously, that’s only the start.
What I want to know is whether the people who get together on this site can actually *do* anything together that is different, or are they only going to be able to *talk about* doing something that is different.
Again, this is going to be one of those “only time will tell” kinds of things.
So far, though, I like the vibe. And so if it’s a party, well, party on!
Well, the “herd principle” applies to every human grouping - it takes a population to support a creative edge.
I think it's nice to be in a situation where we aren't the organizers. We get to mess around without worrying about being responsible for the capital.
We can be poets here, and hang out our shingles, with no worries. Well, few worries. My ego is already feeling way too spritely, gotta whack that sucker back into service mode. ;-}
LOL. Well, I’ve had mine whacked back by reality as of late, first with Tribble, now with my dad. But all things shall pass – I’m sure my ego will be back in fine form within days.
Poets. I like that.
Gabe told me he told you about Light*Memes about being ready. Welcome the Game!
It's a magical wonderfest of rainbows pelting unicorns with chocolate-covered cherries, Bill! Par-tay!
